Wednesday April 10

DAY 1

Destination Israel

TBD Meet in the departure hall terminal 1 at Pearson Airport, to check in for the Air Canada direct nonstop flight to Tel Aviv. Depart at TBD on your overnight flight, destination Israel. Meals served onboard.

Thursday April 11

DAY 2

Welcome to Israel

Arrive at Ben Gurion International Airport at TBD, clearing immigration & customs, meet with your guide. Your first introduction to the Holyland is a guided visit to Neot Kedumim, a symbol of the Bible and the way of life 2,000 and 3,000 years ago. Continue to the ancient port city of Jaffa. Walk along the waterfront with its fishing boats returning with daily bounty. See the home of Simon the Tanner. Check in at your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Friday April 12

DAY 3

The Med to Galilee

On the bus for the drive to Caesarea Maritima. A “modern” sea port built by Herod. Excavated ruins are the theatre, still in use for concerts, the Hippodrome, site of chariot races and gladiator fights, ruins of Herod’s palace and more!  On route to Tiberias, visit Muhraka, the location where Elijah confronted the Baal prophets. Enjoy great views of the Jezreel Valley. Continuing to Megiddo/Armageddon, will be the site of the Final Battle/end of the world according to the Book of Revelations. End the day with a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. Overnight: Tiberias x 3 nights (BD)

Saturday April 13

DAY 4

Jesus’ Ministry in the Galilee

A full day exploring Jesus’ ministry in the Galilee spending time and prayer at the Mount of Beatitudes, Tabgha, site of the multiplication of the fish and loaves, Peter’s Primacy where Jesus singled out Peter from the other apostles for special consideration, Capernaum, Bethsaida and the recently excavated town of Mary Madelaine’s village, Magdala. Visit an Israeli date plantation, Tamar Bakfar, enjoy samples of various types of dates and opportunity to purchase some to bring home. End the day at Yardenit, where you can be baptized or renew your baptismal vows at the Jordan River. (BD)

Sunday April 14

DAY 5

Golan Heights

Venture north today and visit Tel Dan, Caesarea Philippi, where Jesus confirmed Peter’s confession that He was the Messiah. Drive uphill to Mount Bental at strategic defence site for the Israelis during the Yom Kippur War. Known as OZ7, this site offers a good panoramic view of the Valley of Tears in the Golan Heights. The tanks and sculptures made from guns, sheet metal, turrets, and tank parts. (BD)

Monday April 15

DAY 6

Galilee & Dead Sea

Depart the Galilee and stop for an amazing walking tour through the excavations at Beit Shean, where the bodies of King Saul and three of his sons were hung by the Philistines after the Battle of Gilboa. Leave the lush scenery of the Galilee and observe the dramatic a changes to mountains and desert topography. Stop in Jericho, visit the Tel, considered to be the oldest house in the Holyland. View the Mount of Temptation before continuing south past Qumran, site of the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls in 1947. See Ein Gedi, an oasis at the Dead Sea and site of an active Kibbutz. This area dates to at least 60BC. Overnight: Dead Sea x 2 nights. (BD)

Tuesday April 16

DAY 7

Dead Sea

Ascend by cable car to the mountain top fortress of Masada. It was constructed for Herod who had a palace there and offered him safety against those that would try to oust and kill him, but at the end of the First Jewish-Roman War, a group of Jews was held under siege on Masada by Roman soldiers. Rather than surrender, the Jews eventually took their own lives. Return to the hotel and the rest of the day free for leisure and an opportunity to experience weightlessness floating in the mineral rich waters of the Dead Sea (BD)

Wednesday April 17

DAY 8

Dead Sea and Bethlehem

Today visit the Life Gate Rehabilitation Centre, supported in part by First Century Foundations. Continue to Shepherds Fields. Stop at Herodium, a fortress built on a preexisting hill for Herod to quickly flee to from Jerusalem and was a very luxurious palace for his enjoyment. Herod chose to be buried here in a tomb located at the site. Overnight: Jerusalem x 3 nights. (BD)

Thursday April 18

DAY 9

Jerusalem

A busy day exploring excavated ruins outside and inside the old city walls. Travel deep under the road at the City of David, with Warren’s Shaft, the Canaanite Tunnel and exit near the Pool of Siloam. Inside the old city and beside the Western Wall, explore the Southern Wall excavations exiting in the Arab quarter near Pools of Bethesda, where Jesus healed the man who could not walk. Back outside the old city walls, walk to Mount Zion, traditionally considered to be the Room of the Last Supper. (BD)

Friday April19

DAY 10

Jerusalem

This morning begin at the Mount of Olives and follow Jesus Palm Sunday walk to the Garden of Gethsemane. Continue to Yad Vashem, memorial to the Holocaust. Return to your hotel. Rest of the day free. Shabbat dinner at the hotel. (BD)

 

 

 

Saturday April 20

DAY 11

Home to Canada

Transfer to Ben Gurion Airport clearing security procedures. Noon departure. Welcome home. (B)
